How the WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier works
Many traders in the GCC get their trade ideas from a WhatsApp group. But a signal often lands while you drive, work or sleep. By the time you open MetaTrader, the price may have moved. A WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier takes over that step for you.
The tool has two parts that work as a team:
- A helper app on your Windows PC reads each new message from the chats you choose.
- An Expert Advisor (EA) inside MT4 or MT5 checks your rules and places the order.
In between, a parser pulls out the side, symbol, entry, SL and TP. Then your symbol map and lot rules turn that signal into an order that fits your account. The whole chain runs on your own machine, so your chats never pass through our servers. For a longer walkthrough, read our guide on how to copy WhatsApp signals to MT4 and MT5.
One rule never changes: we provide development only, and we never sell, send or pick signals. The copier reads only chats you already belong to, such as a group you joined or a mentor’s chat. Then it places orders only in your own MT4 or MT5 accounts, so you stay in charge.
A linked device on your own PC
WhatsApp offers no official API for reading personal chats or groups. Its Business Platform serves companies that message their own customers, so it does not fit this job. Instead, our WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier works through a linked device, much like WhatsApp Desktop or WhatsApp Web.
During setup, you scan a QR code with your phone, just as you would to chat from a laptop. Then the helper uses that linked session on your Windows PC. We never ask for your phone, your chats or a login code. If WhatsApp logs the device out, you simply scan the code again.
Before you start, read the WhatsApp Terms of Service and the Help Center articles on linked devices. They set the rules for linked devices and automated use. That is why we keep the helper simple. It reads the chats you choose, and it never sends, forwards or deletes anything.
Choosing the chats it reads
You decide which chats the helper may read. Usually that is one signal group, but it can also be a mentor’s chat or a team chat. Every other chat stays out of reach, so family groups and work chats never reach the parser.
A WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier can follow several of your chats at once, too. In that case, each source keeps its own parser profile and its own rules. For example, a gold group can trade a fixed lot, while a forex group risks 1% per trade. You can also pause one source for a day without touching the others.
Message formats and the parser
The parser is the heart of a WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier. Every group writes signals in its own style, so we build the parser around yours. First, you send us 20 to 30 real messages from the chat. Then we map every pattern they use. Take this common format:
GOLD BUY NOW 4015
SL 4005
TP1 4022
TP2 4030
The parser turns it into a gold buy, split into two positions. Half the lot aims for 4022 and the other half for 4030, with one stop at 4005 for both. It also copes with the usual variations:
- side words such as BUY, SELL, LONG or SHORT, in capitals or not,
- entry zones like “BUY 4015-4012”, placed as a market or limit order by your choice,
- missing stops, where the copier applies your default SL or skips the trade,
- noise such as emojis, voice notes, chart images and adverts, which it ignores.
When a message matches no pattern, the copier skips it and writes a line in the log. So a joke or a market comment never turns into a trade.
Follow-up messages: move SL, close half
Admins often update a trade after they post it. Your WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier links each reply to the original signal, so the update lands on the right position:
- “Move SL to entry” moves the stop to break-even,
- “Close half” closes 50% of the open lots,
- “TP1 hit” can trigger your own rule, such as moving the rest to break-even,
- “Close all” closes the trade or deletes the pending order,
- an edited entry price updates the pending order instead of opening a second one.
When a follow-up is unclear, the copier logs it and shows an alert in MetaTrader instead of guessing.
Symbol mapping for your broker
Groups write “GOLD”, “XAU” or “XAUUSD”. However, your broker may list the same market as “XAUUSD.m”, “XAUUSDm” or “GOLD#”. So the WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier keeps a symbol map that you fill in once. One rule can also add a suffix to a whole set of names.
Before each order, the EA checks that the symbol exists in Market Watch. If a name is missing, the copier logs the problem instead of guessing. You can edit the map yourself whenever your broker changes a suffix.
Lot and risk rules you control
A signal rarely fits your account size. That is why a WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier should follow your plan, not the admin’s. You set these rules, and you can change them at any time:
- Lot mode: a fixed lot, or a percent of balance risked to the stop.
- Lot cap: a maximum lot size per trade, whatever the signal says.
- Open trade limit: no new trades once you hold a set number.
- Trading hours: skip signals outside the hours you choose.
- Price distance: skip an entry when price has already moved too far.
- Signal age: ignore messages older than your limit, for example one minute.
- Daily loss limit: pause copying for the rest of the day once you reach it.
The EA also respects your broker’s minimum lot, lot step and stop level. So a 0.033 lot becomes 0.03 when the lot step is 0.01. If a stop sits too close to price, the EA alerts you rather than change your numbers.
MT4 and MT5 EAs
In a WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier, the WhatsApp side stays the same for both platforms. Only the EA changes. We write it in MQL4 for MT4 and in MQL5 for MT5, because each language handles orders its own way. For example, an MT5 account can use netting or hedging, so the EA must know which mode your broker uses.
Your symbol map and lot rules carry over between the two. As a result, a move from MT4 to MT5 later takes little work. MetaQuotes documents both languages in the MQL4 reference and the MQL5 reference.
PC or VPS?
Your WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier needs two things running: the helper and your MT4 or MT5 terminal. On a home PC, both work while the PC is on and online. If the PC sleeps, signals wait in WhatsApp and may reach the copier late. That is why the signal age rule matters, since it stops stale entries.
A Windows VPS keeps both parts running all day, which suits groups that post at night. However, WhatsApp must stay linked on that VPS. Your phone also needs to come online now and then, or WhatsApp may log the device out. Either way, the helper needs Windows, since it runs next to MetaTrader.
Test on a demo account first
Signals have no price history to replay, so we test in two passes. First, we run your saved messages through the parser and check every result. Then the copier runs live on your demo account while your group posts.
During that week or two, compare each demo order with the message behind it. Check the symbol, the side, the lots, the SL and every TP. Next, post a typo, a signal with no SL and an edited TP in a small test group. Once every case works, move to a live account with small lots.
Every WhatsApp to MT4/MT5 copier we deliver starts as a trial build. It runs on your demo account only, and it can carry an end date. So you watch real group signals turn into demo trades before you pay the balance.
